The miraculous deeds of Father Christmas

I saw a light glowing in the dark

I wondered who had given the spark

I looked for an answer for ages and longer

I felt that my knowledge would not become stronger

I saw a present in my stocking

I hadn’t heard a pounding or knocking

I wondered again who was the mysterious one

I was quite sad that this person was already gone

I saw tracks of deer and sleigh

I thought that maybe I should stay

I knew I was wrong after hours of standing

I hadn’t seen anyone flying and afterwards landing

I saw happy children in the streets

I heard them laugh about loads of sweets

I wondered again who was the generous giver

I almost gave up when something made me shiver

The sky cracked open by humongous force from above

The heavenly choirs were singing of Christmas time and love

The answer to all of my questions did not seem that far any more

The Father would soon descend to bring what we were waiting for

als Vorteil der seine.

Sehen, was kommt in dieser Zeit?

Ausgefüllt genau wie leer

macht sich Unbehagen breit,

denn man sieht nur schwer.

Eine Geschichte von kühnen Recken,

Schwertern und klirrendem Kampf,

Oder etwa ein paar Stecken,

geistig reiner Dampf?

Vielleicht ist’s auch eine Karte,

die dir weist den Weg zum Schatz,

doch bleibe still zunächst und warte,

schon ändert das der nächste Satz!
